Annie Bourgeois
, CHRP PartnerAnnie Bourgeois, CHRP, focuses her practice on labour and employment law. She advises employers on labour relations issues at both the collective and individual levels, particularly with respect to labour standards, executive compensation, drafting employment contracts, non-compete and loyalty obligations, dismissal, disciplinary measures, protection of personal information and human rights in the workplace.
Annie is versatile and assists her clients throughout all stages of a file. This includes developing strategies, drafting pleadings, and representing clients before the civil courts, administrative tribunals, specialized tribunals and arbitration panels.
During her studies, Annie was a member of Université Laval’s Rouge et Or track & field and cross-country team, and competed in national competitions. Her experiences as an athlete have drawn her more and more into the field of sports law, where she provides legal advice to sports federations and athletes, particularly in connection with team selection, disciplinary measures, disciplinary investigations and safe sport related matters. She also represents the Canadian anti-doping authorities.
She practises law in French and English.
McGill University
Successfully represented McGill University in the matter of Amoriggi v. Université McGill et al., which dealt with the employer’s right to dismiss a professor whose productivity had fallen below the standard of eligibility for his position.
