Jean-Philippe Dionne’s practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, particularly in contractual disputes, civil liability and product liability. He is also active in files involving public law.

Jean-Philippe is appreciated for his critical mind and exacting standards, and is frequently called upon in complex and large-scale files. He has thereby acquired significant expertise in representing clients before Québec and federal civil courts and administrative tribunals. Jean-Philippe is involved at all stages of litigation files. He assists a varied clientele in finding solutions to their disputes that are adapted to their sector and reality.

During his law studies, Jean-Philippe was awarded several prizes and awards in recognition of his excellent academic results. In particular, he obtained the best cumulative average in his class for three consecutive years while earning his civil law degree. He also participated in the 2018 Laskin Moot Court Competition (in constitutional and administrative law), where his team was awarded second prize for best factums. He subsequently co-coached University of Ottawa’s Civil Law Section team in the Laskin Moot Court Competition in 2019 and 2020.

  • Defended a truck manufacturer against an action for latent defects brought by a municipality.
  • Defended a corporation and some of its shareholders in connection with a dispute arising from a sale of shares.
  • Defended a professional partnership before the Superior Court against a claim of over $7 million.
  • Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History Award (awarded to the top ten students in the University of Ottawa's Common Law Section), 2019
  • Gold Medal and Law School Plaque (highest cumulative GPA in the entire Civil Law degree program – University of Ottawa), 2018
