For more than 25 years, Sarto Veilleux has focused his practice on all aspects of labour and employment law, as well as administrative law throughout Quebec. He primarily represents employers in the private and public sectors, in federal or provincial jurisdictions, in both unionized and non-unionized settings.

Sarto is known for his keen legal and advocacy skills, in addition to his ability to take into account all stakes involved (financial, business, human and political) in the mandates entrusted to him. When it comes to choosing a top legal advisor, his clients appreciate his practical approach, his ability to lead complex cases, his negotiating and mediating skills.

He manages and handles cases dealing with union certification, negotiates and drafts collective agreements, employee manuals and individual employment agreements and a variety of administrative policies. He also acts on behalf of employers in grievance arbitrations, complaints lodged to the CNESST (Quebec’s occupational safety agency) and all types of labour disputes and conflicts. He appears as well before civil courts and administrative tribunals in connection with suits, claims and complaints involving labour laws, charter rights and administrative law. Finally, he provides employers with advice and legal opinions on the interpretation and application of labour laws, the charter of rights and freedoms and collective agreements.

For a few years, Sarto taught labour and employment law at the École du Barreau de Québec and the Lévis campus of the UQAR (Université du Québec à Rimouski). Since then, he is a speaker at conferences and provides training to clients, associations and HR associations.

He has developed notable expertise in labour relations in the municipal sphere, an area in which he acted decisively in a grievance arbitration under the Labour Code, and successfully argued a case before the Supreme Court of Canada.
