Victory for Langlois in an environmental class action

Langlois Lawyers successfully represented their client, Compagnie d'Arrimage de Québec ("CAQ"), a Quebec City company specializing in handling solid bulk cargo, in a class action regarding neighbourhood disturbances related to dust. A group of Limoilou residents was suing the CAQ and the Québec Port Authority for more than $350 million in compensatory and punitive damages, as well as a permanent injunction to change their operations.

Langlois Acts for Victoriaville & Co. in an Important Acquisition

Langlois Lawyers acted as lead counsel for Victoriaville & Co., one of the largest wood casket manufacturer in North America, in its acquisition of all the shares of Alliance St-Laurent Casket Corporation, a subsidiary of Matthews International Corporation (NASDAQ: MATW), based in Edmundston, New Brunswick.

On February 20, 2019 Sébastien Laprise and Jean-Benoît Pouliot represented the Union des municipalités du Québec before the Supreme Court of Canada in the matter of Ville de Montréal v. Octane Stratégie inc. (file 38066), in which the UMQ is an intervenor.

Jean-Simon Deschênes represented a consortium of two banks in connection with a $75 million financing. His mandate included drafting the credit agreement, structuring the security granted in Canada, and supervising the taking of security in five foreign jurisdictions.

Langlois represented three banks in connection with a $170 million financing required for the operations of an agri-business enterprise. The mandate included drafting the credit agreement and the agreements among the lenders, as well as structuring the security granted by the 30 co-borrowers carrying on operations on some one hundred different properties.
