The environmental-law and energy-law expertise of Julie Belley Perron, a partner in the business law group, was called upon recently in connection with the preparation of an article on how to improve energy efficiency (“Trois conseils pour améliorer son efficacité énergétique”) in which she explains the changes made to Quebec’s cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emission allowances (SPEDE).
Langlois lawyers warmly congratulates the Honourable Richard Wagner for being named Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. He succeeds Justice Beverley McLachlin in this role, and will be sworn in as Chief Justice and Member of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada on December 18.
The 1998 ice storm, the worst natural catastrophe Quebec has ever experienced, occurred 20 years ago. Pierre-Luc Desgagné, who was then working in the office of Quebec’s premier, was recently interviewed, along with several other individuals involved, on the challenges they had to overcome in order to ensure the effective deployment of remedial operations. All of the interviews are featured in an article published in the most recent edition of l’Actualité magazine, entitled “Le grand récit de la crise du verglas”.
