Samuel Gagnon
PartnerSamuel is a lawyer and a mediator. He supports professionals, businesses and insurance sector stakeholders in their civil and commercial litigation matters.
Creative, organized and efficient, he tailors his approach to clients’ needs. He is often called on in a wide range of complex and high-stake litigation cases. He handles a variety of matters involving manufacturers’ civil liability, sales law, professional liability, construction law, real estate law, insurance contract interpretation and compliance management. He also advises on risk management and dispute prevention issues.
Samuel is available, dedicated, and very active in the legal community. He is also involved in various sustainable mobility and access to justice initiatives.
His oral advocacy skills have been recognized on several occasions, including at the mooting competition organized by the Young Bar of Québec City, at which he won the “Rabat d’Or” prize for best pleader.

- Defended an engineering company against a $650,000 personal injury lawsuit.
- Represented an insurance company in connection with a dispute over the scope of the “care, custody and control” exclusion.
- Defended a supplier of concrete against lawsuits claiming a total of several million dollars brought by the owners of homes whose concrete foundations had been damaged.
- Defended manufacturers of water heaters, valves and fittings against various product-liability lawsuits.
- Represented a real estate broker in a lawsuit brought by the seller of an immovable in connection with a hypothec granted to the municipality of Québec City.
- Represented plaintiff insurance companies in a lawsuit related to the Lac Mégantic train derailment and explosion.
- Defended a company being sued in connection with a fire at a shopping centre.
- Represented a home systems integrator in a lawsuit regarding performance defects in access control systems.
