Jean Patrick Dallaire is responsible for the Construction and Infrastructure group, composed of members of the firm’s various areas and spheres of activity, as well as professionals having worked in the legal departments of prestigious industry players, and contributes daily to the advancement of projects of all sizes.

He acts as a strategic advisor, risk analyst, negotiator, drafter and trainer in matters relating to project governance, legal management, construction documents and claims, regardless of the project award, performance and compensation methods used.

He has pleaded before all levels of the courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and is also active in the prevention and resolution of construction disputes.

He has authored numerous publications, conferences and accredited workshops, namely on industry best practices, both in contractual matters and litigation.

Jean Patrick and his group are recognized for coordinating their activities with their clients’ various teams (management, technical, procurement, legal, etc.). They also have a vast network of independent professionals established in other jurisdictions selected on a case-by-case basis according to the specific needs of each project (jurisdiction, type of issue, time horizon, financial goals, etc.).

Strategic advice – Construction and Infrastructure

  • Acts as partner in charge of projects ranging in value from several million to several billion dollars, on behalf of public and private project owners or other principal stakeholders, in connection with projects involving energy, public transit, electrification, industrial, commercial and multi-residential buildings, civil engineering and public infrastructure (water treatment, ozonation, roads, bridges, etc.).
  • Public/electric transport: strategic counsel and development of contractual documents for the project manager in various projects to electrify its public transport infrastructures.
  • Municipal projects: strategic counsel and preparation of contractual documents for a city in the context of simultaneous projects on its territory – civil and architectural engineering.
  • Preparation of public tender and other contractual documents for the construction of an ozone disinfection unit for the City of Montréal’s treated wastewater (J.-R.-Marcotte station): ozone production, oxygen production, cooling system, ozone destruction, ozone contact in inlet wells, continuous ozonation monitoring unit – general contracting, pre-procurement, design-build-operation-maintenance.
  • Preparation of Canadian contractual documents for an international aerospace company – general contracting, construction management, design-build.
  • Preparation of joint venture and other contractual documents for various Canadian projects (British Columbia, Ontario and Québec).
  • Implementation of best contractual practices and development of contractual templates for a Canadian public agency – design-build.
  • Risk analysis, negotiation and drafting of contractual templates for various gas network expansion projects in a Canadian province – construction management/integrated project realization.
  • Risk analysis and negotiation for the Toronto Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) project (Crosslinx) – design-build/integrated project realization.
