Langlois Lawyers acted as lead counsel for Victoriaville & Co., one of the largest wood casket manufacturer in North America, in its acquisition of all the shares of Alliance St-Laurent Casket Corporation, a subsidiary of Matthews International Corporation (NASDAQ: MATW), based in Edmundston, New Brunswick. The transaction also involved the negotiation and conclusion of two major multi-year supply contracts between the parties. Langlois advised Victoriaville & Co. and its senior management Messrs. Alain and Charles-Olivier Dumont on all aspects of the transaction, which closed on September 30, 2019. The Langlois team led by Félix Bernard (mergers and acquisitions) included Julie Belley Perron (mergers and acquisitions), Philippe Bélisle (labour relations, employment law), Pascal Archambault (intellectual property), Catherine Vaillancourt (corporate law) and Marc-Antoine Séguin (articling student). The purchase price for the transaction was not disclosed. Matthews International Corporation and its subsidiaries were represented by Brian D. Walters, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Matthews International Corporation.
