Marie-Hélène Jetté
, CHRP PartnerMarie-Hélène Jetté is a seasoned litigator. She has been representing and advising employers for nearly 30 years in the fields of labour and employment law, human rights and freedoms, and administrative law. She is widely recognized for her extensive experience, judicious and informed advice and solid competence when it comes to representing employers in matters related to employment termination, psychological harassment, discrimination, labour standards and occupational health and safety.
Clients regularly call on Marie-Hélène to advise on strategic questions regarding human capital management. She also leverages her practical approach and risk mitigation skills to advise clients on business sales and reorganizations.
In addition, Marie-Hélène has in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical, hospitality, arts, distribution and retail trade sectors. She has participated in several negotiations as an employer’s representative and frequently appears before civil courts and specialized administrative tribunals.
Moreover, Marie-Hélène is involved in her community and serves on various boards of directors. She is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and has for several years been head of the Labour and Employment Law group, which features roughly thirty professionals and is thus one of the largest teams in this practice area in Québec. Her expertise is recognized by several legal directories and rankings. Notably, she received the prestigious Benchmark Litigation Award for Labour & Employment Litigator of the Year in Canada for two consecutive years (2021 and 2022).
Marie-Hélène has recently:
- represented TV5 Québec Canada and its subsidiary Épilogue Services Techniques Inc. as spokesperson in connection with the renewal of their collective agreement;
- acted as spokesperson for Raufoss Automobiles at the bargaining table during the most recent renewal of its collective agreement;
- represented Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. in several employee complaint files under the Act respecting labour standards before the Administrative Labour Tribunal;
- represented Kruger Inc. and its subsidiaries in connection with numerous grievances and complaints under the Labour Code and the Supplemental Pension Plans Act;
- represented Hershey Canada Inc. regarding two manufacturing facilities in Québec to assist it with grievances, complaints and negotiations;
- represented several pharmaceutical companies including Merck, GSK, Haleon, Abbott and Organon in connection with complaints or advice on managing their human capital;
- represented Hydro-Québec and Adobe before the courts in sensitive files involving termination of employment;
- handled several confidential files involving harassment or dismissal implicating senior executives;
- represented a large national law firm as a specialist in Québec law in connection with a class action filed in Ontario;
- represented various businesses as counsel in confidential matters involving mass layoffs.
