Three Articles by Langlois Lawyers Published in the Special Business Law Edition of Magazine Les Affaires

The legal community in Quebec can learn more about legal issues that may affect them in a special Business Law edition of online magazine Les Affaires published on September 21, 2017, in which the expertise of Langlois Lawyers is on display in three articles.

In an article on the implications for the profession of the legalization of marijuana entitled Cannabis : une manne pour les avocats, lawyer Charles Wagner recommends that employers prepare for the legalized recreational use of cannabis by either developing a policy in that regard or updating the one currently applicable to alcohol and tobacco if any.

In another article, Fintechs : les avocats en mode solution, partner Jean-François De Rico explains the challenges posed for lawyers by new technologies being applied in the financial services industry. He points out that the current regulatory framework will have to be revised in order to adapt to this new reality.

Finally, in an article entitled Des services toujours plus diversifiés, lawyers Charles Lapointe and Félix Bernard point out that to become true business partners with their clients, lawyers must get out of their legal bubble in order to better understand the client’s business environment. For instance, in the context of an acquisition transaction, the lawyer’s role should not be limited to overseeing and directing the transaction but should extend to the human capital aspect of it, as he or she should ensure that the talent acquisition aspect is well structured.
