Langlois Lawyers’ partner Marianne Plamondon, spokesperson for the Défi… On décroche

The Québec City Bar, in collaboration for the first time with the Montréal Bar, is launching the third edition of its Défi… On décroche with the theme of La trêve de 7 à 7.
The goal of the challenge is simple: throughout the month of February, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., lawyers are invited to postpone all non-urgent professional communications until the next day.

Marianne Plamondon, a partner in the labour and employment law group at Langlois Lawyers and the new spokesperson for the month-long challenge, has been closely involved in the right to disconnect for several years. Her extensive knowledge of the subject has led her to give numerous conferences and media interviews.

“The issue of disconnection is more prevalent than ever. With the increased adoption of remote working and the proliferation of technological tools, lawyers are facing a period with no boundaries between work and personal life. Work life is omnipresent in our personal lives, and so it is imperative to actively promote periods of rest from work like in order to support good mental health and support the professional fulfilment of our legal community. It is in this context that I proudly join the Québec City and Montréal Bars in promoting healthy disconnection practices,” said Mrs. Plamondon.

“Marianne is an expert on issues related to the right to disconnect. I have no doubt that she will succeed in mobilizing both the business community and the general public to this cause, which is in line with our firm’s values. We place great importance on the well-being of our members, and mental health is one of our top priorities. We salute your involvement, Marianne,” said Jean-François Gagnon, Chief Executive Officer of Langlois Lawyers.

The goal of the challenge is to help people improve their mental well-being, the quality of their communications, and the management of their priorities by enabling them to reassess the need for constant communication with their work environment. This allows them to take a step back and realize that every action, no matter how small, can have an unsuspecting positive impact in their lives.
