

Justine Vinette
LawyerJustine Vinette focuses her practice on civil and commercial litigation, and professional law. More specifically, she takes a keen interest in the extraordinary remedies available in commercial litigation, such as interim interlocutory injunctions, Anton Piller, Mareva and Norwich injunctions, and seizures before judgment.
Justine represents and advises a wide range of organizations and businesses in their litigation in various areas, including shareholder conflicts, professional liability, the environment, competition law, and contract disputes. She also assists her clients with all governance aspects.
Before joining the firm, Justine practised civil and commercial litigation for over two years at a private Montréal firm. In addition, she earned a certificate in European private law from the University of Salzburg, in Austria.
Professional liability and environment
- Successfully represented an environmental consultant and his employer before the Superior Court of Québec in a case involving a $3 million claim by a plaintiff who alleged that the defendants committed various errors in carrying out an environmental study engagement. The Court detailed in particular the state of the law on the civil liability of a professional against a third person, the nature of the obligations assumed by environmental consultants and the concept of an impairment loss related to an alleged contamination.
Extraordinary remedies
- Successfully represented a banking institution in various extraordinary remedies before the Superior Court of Québec, such as seizures before judgment, and Anton Piller, Mareva and Norwich orders.
- Successfully represented a client that is a legal person and a mandatary of the State before the Superior Court of Québec in connection with an application for an interlocutory injunction to stay the submission of tenders in connection with a call for tenders launched in the Québec health network.
