DEFENCE INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY

Langlois has represented clients in security and defence, both in Canada and internationally, for many years. Our multidisciplinary National Security and Defence group is made up of seasoned professionals from all the main practice areas, with the experience and specific knowledge needed by organizations in this sector, including authorities, financial institutions, investors, insurers and sureties, manufacturers, suppliers and distributors, designers, construction companies, land, air and maritime transport companies, airport, aeronautical and aerospace entities, and technology and digital solution providers.

The federal government has launched a new Defence Industrial Strategy in a bid to improve Canadian security and prosperity. The aim is to strengthen Canada’s sovereign capacities, increase Canadian industry’s share in contract awards, and stimulate innovation and industrial investment nation-wide. The strategy will radically change the business landscape for companies operating in the sector.

In these rapidly changing conditions, a high level of advanced legal expertise is essential for any company operating in national security and defence, where legal issues must be managed and various actors coordinated in order to achieve business targets and, especially, seize the opportunities arising from this new industrial dynamic.
