Langlois advises on the Haute-Chaudière Wind Farm project

December 9th, 2025

We’re proud to share that the Haute-Chaudière Wind Farm, a landmark initiative in Québec’s energy transition, has officially received government approval and secured the financing required to commence construction. The project includes 20 turbines with a total capacity of 124 MW and is slated to begin operations in early 2027. The electricity generated will be sold to Hydro-Québec through a 30-year supply contract. Over its lifespan, the project is expected to generate more than $60 million in revenue for 19 municipalities, create roughly 150 construction jobs, and power more than 20,000 homes.

For several months, members of our Real Estate Law group supported EDF Solutions Électriques Canada Inc., a subsidiary of EDF Power Solutions North America, by securing all land rights essential to the project across the MRC du Granit, including the municipalities of Audet, Frontenac, and the City of Lac-Mégantic.

Our professionals oversaw the full scope of land-related work: drafting purchase option agreements, superficies deeds, and servitude agreements; conducting extensive title deed searches; negotiating with authorities and stakeholders; and preparing the leases and land rights required for the installation of the turbines, substation, service building, and collector network.

Congratulations to our colleagues for their vital contribution to this file: Miriam Robitaille, Vincent Tremblay, Adèle Poirier, Jérémie Martin, Mélanie Gingras, Fanny van Bochove, and Rose-Marie Huot-Beaumont.
