Montréal, December 17, 2018 – The management of CM-CIC Investissement has announced the nomination of attorney William D. Hart as director and chairman of the board of directors of its two Canadian subsidiaries, CIC Capital Canada Inc. and CIC Capital Ventures Inc. He joins Julien Saulgrain, an attorney at the firm Blue-HF, as a second independent director of these two companies.
CM-CIC Investissement is part of the French banking group Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale. Its Canadian subsidiary CIC Capital Canada Inc. takes minority positions of $5 to $50 million in top-tier family-owned corporations, and has an experienced team in place in its two offices in Toronto and Montréal. Also present in those two cities is its venture capital subsidiary CIC Capital Ventures Inc., which specializes in investing in and accompanying technology-based companies in growth sectors such as ICT and health.
William D. Hart: an international career
Mr Hart practices in the area of corporate and commercial law at Langlois Lawyers and has worked closely with businesses and organizations in France for many years. He is the head of the firm’s France-Québec practice group, which allows him to offer business solutions adapted to the needs of French enterprises seeking to do business in Quebec.
A graduate of the École supérieure des Sciences économiques et commerciales (Essec) in France and holder of LL.B. and BCL law degrees from McGill University, he acted as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of a major Canadian public corporation for several years before returning to private practice. This unique background allows him to better understand and advise French and Quebec businesses of all sizes that wish to expand internationally.
Mr Hart is also past president (2004-2008 and 2017-2018) of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) in Canada.
