A Torrent of Nominations at Langlois!
Montréal, February 11, 2016 – The New Year has rung in many changes at Langlois lawyers. Just a few weeks after adopting a new name and brand, and moving its Montreal office, there are now several new faces on its management team, specifically on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and among its practice-area section heads.
Karen Rogers will be heading up the largest team of litigators in Québec. She takes over from Danielle Ferron, whose excellent work as team leader has been greatly appreciated. For more than 25 years now, Karen has been developing a practice focused on commercial, civil and regulatory litigation, including regulatory investigations. A noted specialist in securities law, she also lectures on the law of security on property at the professional training institute of the Québec Bar, the École du Barreau du Québec.
Éric Savard is the new leader of the firm’s business law team. A specialist in banking and insolvency law, Eric is a trusted strategic business advisor to his clients, overseeing the negotiation and implementation of large-scale financings and other major transactions on their behalf.
The firm’s labour and employment law team will be led jointly by Nicola Di Iorio and Catherine Galardo.
Nicola Di Iorio represents employers before a variety of courts and tribunals in matters involving all aspects of labour relations between employers and both unionized and non-unionized workers. He also serves as a negotiator in collective bargaining situations, in addition to providing opinions and strategic advice on workforce planning.
With a varied clientele that includes several school boards, Catherine Galardo is involved on a regular basis in files involving both unionized and non-unionized employees. As she is also a certified human resources professional, Catherine is frequently called upon for strategic advice on organizational issues.
New members of the Board
Gerry Apostolatos is the newly appointed chair of the firm’s Board of Directors. He is taking the reins from Pierre Galardo, who has fulfilled that role for the last nine years. Gerry thereby becomes an ex officio member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Throughout his career he has demonstrated his generosity and commitment. His exemplary dedication and professionalism have led him to sit on various committees, including the disciplinary committee of the Québec Bar.
Also new to the Executive Committee is Bernard Jolin, who was recently named the partner in charge of the firm’s Montreal office. Bernard is very active within the Québec Bar, where he has sat for many years on the Civil Procedure Committee.
Finally, Jean-François Gagnon’s mandate as the firm’s Chief Executive Officer has been renewed. Jean-François has been the head of the Executive Committee since 2007.
