On October 6th, Langlois partner and lawyer, Jean-François De Rico whose practice focuses on information technology, protection of personal information, cybersecurity and intellectual property, will take part in Forensik Conference, a “virtual event on Cyber Security Incident Management and Response in Quebec” sponsored by Langlois Lawyers.
Jean-François will speak about “the analysis and qualification of the real risk of serious damage resulting from a security incident”. From a legal perspective, a security incident resulting in a breach of personal data confidentiality requires an assessment of the “real risk of serious harm” likely to result from the breach. It is this criterion that determines whether an organization should proceed with notifying and declaring the incident.
