Laurence Gauthier is a partner in the Montréal office of Langlois lawyers. She practises primarily in the areas of civil litigation, insurance law, and professional liability.
She handles files involving Insurance matters, general liability, professional liability and construction. During her career, Laurence has had the opportunity to represent clients involved in complex litigation, such as the Trois-Rivières pyrrhotite file and the Commission of Inquiry into the collapse of the Concorde overpass.
Throughout her years of practice, Laurence has acquired considerable experience defending professionals in many fields against claims of errors and omissions.

Areas of Practice
Represented a concrete company in the context of the Trois-Rivières pyrrhotite case, a major case raising questions of hidden defects resulting from the presence of pyrrhotite in the concrete used for the construction of hundreds of buildings in the Trois-Rivières area.
Represented a party in a major case resulting in damages caused to a building under construction, involving questions relating to the possibility of the intervention, as a defendant in warranty, of an insured of the construction site policy under which the subrogatory action was instituted.
Successfully challenged a Wellington-type motion under a commercial liability insurance policy in the context of a dispute arising from a claim regarding a wharf under construction.
Rejected a counterclaim against a lawyer alleging that he did not respect his duty to advise a client.
