Annie Gallant is a litigation practitioner in the Montréal office of Langlois lawyers.
She acts in civil and commercial litigation matters involving consumer law, competition law, banking law, manufacturer’s liability, shareholder disputes, municipal law and construction law. She is frequently involved in complex litigation files including class actions, with major commercial, strategic and social implications across a wide variety of industries and businesses.
Annie represents her clients before trial and appellate courts and at settlement conferences.
Over the years she has developed in-depth legal knowledge and a comprehensive vision of the practice of law and dispute resolution. She favours a personal approach centred on the needs of her clients and constantly strives to work together with them to find solutions.
Before joining Langlois lawyers, Annie practiced civil and commercial litigation at a national law firm.
Annie carries on her practice in both English and French.

Consumer law – Banks and financial institutions – Class actions
Defended a major financial institution against various class actions instituted by credit-card holders contesting service fees and interest calculation methods.
Pension plans – Fiduciary duties and obligations of trustees – Class actions
Defended the members of the investment committee of a major university’s pension plan in a class action seeking recovery of a hedge fund investment that lost value due to allegations of fraud against the promoter.
Civil liability – Banks and financial institutions – Class actions
Represented a major financial institution in the appeal of a class action dealing with penalties payable upon prepayment of various hypothecary (mortgage) loans.
Consumer law – Civil liability – Class actions
Defended a major chain of pharmacies against a class action contesting the legality of a unilateral modification clause in a loyalty program.

Defended a major car-rental company at the authorization (certification) stage of a class action involving the advertising practices of car-rental companies and the disclosure of certain fees and charges included in the rental price.
Competition law – Civil liability – Class actions
Represented the manufacturer of components used in various electronic devices in a class action alleging price-fixing and anticompetitive practices.
Consumer law – Manufacturer’s liability – Latent defects and manufacturing defects
Defended a major manufacturer of doors and windows against various lawsuits alleging latent defects and manufacturing defects in several of its products.
