Pierre-Luc Desgagné’s experience in crisis management highlighted in l’Actualité magazine

The 1998 ice storm, the worst natural catastrophe Quebec has ever experienced, occurred 20 years ago. Pierre-Luc Desgagné, who was then working in the office of Quebec’s premier, was recently interviewed, along with several other individuals involved, on the challenges they had to overcome in order to ensure the effective deployment of remedial operations. All of the interviews are featured in an article published in the most recent edition of l’Actualité magazine, entitled “Le grand récit de la crise du verglas”.

At the time, he acted as liaison between Hydro-Québec, the government departments involved and various suppliers of equipment and other materials to ensure the delivery of essential services. “I learned a tremendous amount from that experience”, Pierre-Luc explained. “It is critical to have an emergency plan adapted to the circumstances, establish effective communications with all persons affected and ensure the ongoing cooperation of all parties involved.”
