Nicola Di Iorio spearheads the adoption of National Impaired Driving Prevention Week by a unanimous vote in the House of Commons
Montréal, February 12, 2018 – Nicola Di Iorio, co-head of the employment & labour law group at Langlois lawyers, llp and a Member of Parliament, recently succeeded in having adopted, by a unanimous vote of 295 to zero, Motion M-148 calling for official recognition of National Impaired Driving Prevention Week.
“Highway safety and prevention measures save lives. I hope that our combined efforts will succeed in ending the scourge of death and serious injury caused by impaired driving. National Impaired Driving Prevention Week is crucial for improving the general safety of Canadians”, stated Mr. Di Iorio.
Dedicated to road safety and hailed as an ardent supporter of this cause, Nicola has for years been advocating for measures to counter the devastating effects of impaired driving. Among other initiatives, he co-founded Cool Taxi, an organization dedicated to getting young people home safely. He also conceived of and worked tirelessly towards the adoption of National Impaired Driving Prevention Week. It is worth noting that a parliamentary motion is rarely adopted by such a decisive margin, and its adoption followed by applause from members of all parties.
