Langlois Congratulates the Honourable Richard Wagner on His Appointment as Chief Justice

Montréal, December 12, 2017 – Langlois lawyers warmly congratulates the Honourable Richard Wagner for being named Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. He succeeds Justice Beverley McLachlin in this role, and will be sworn in as Chief Justice and Member of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada on December 18.

Richard Wagner was appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada on October 5, 2012 after sitting for little more than a year on the Quebec Court of Appeal. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1980 and practiced law until being appointed to the Quebec Superior Court for the District of Montréal in 2004, where he sat in the Civil Division, the Commercial Division and the Criminal Division until 2011.
